My name's Jason. I'm 24 years old, I live in Dallas, and I write code and stuff for a VoIP startup in Richardson, TX. I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in May 2007.
I'm an oddball and a geek. I use Linux, I enjoy programming, I read comic books, and I watch a lot of weird TV shows, ranging from old sitcoms, awesome newer stuff (Dead Like Me, House, and Monk come to mind), and Japanese tokusatsu shows. I used to watch anime, but not so much anymore. Oh, and I watch Star Trek.
I've got a little bit into goth culture some years ago. I've been to The Church a whole bunch of times (though I haven't gone there much in the last two years), and my favorite American band is The Crüxshadows. So far, I've seen their live show three times, even heading all the way out to Austin to see them once.
I do, however, like music other than goth/darkwave music, though my other favorite genre (anisong, also spelled anison) is rather obscure.
Politically, I'm in the middle, as I find both the left and the right to be rather distasteful (both are built on a solid foundation of bullshit, IMO). I consider myself an Atheist, though I come from a Jewish background, and I'm rather tolerant of most faiths (with the exception of Scientology, but that's a scam, not a religion). I used to get myself worked up over political issues, but I've found that I don't like fighting (especially with friends), so I now prefer to just state my beliefs, step back, and not worry about it. I'm quite tolerant and oftentimes supportive of just about every lifestyle that doesn't involve being intolerant towards people who have done nothing wrong.
I like to eat a wide variety of foods, though most vegetables put me off in all but a few contexts. I drink both liquor and beer, and I've been known to get drunk from time to time. On the non-alcoholic side, I go crazy over sweet tea. That stuff is more addictive than alcohol, I say. Also, I smoke, and I'm proud of it.
My favourite colours are gray and purple, hence my LJ's colour scheme. And yes, I type in a strange mix of American and British spellings, and I'm not terribly consistent about them.
